We offer three types of IUD coil: the Mirena coil and Kyleena coil, both of which are hormonal, and the Copper coil, which is completely hormone-free. During your consultation, your doctor will discuss which option is most suitable for your health profile, lifestyle, and contraceptive goals.

All coil insertion prices include your full consultation and pre-procedure Chlamydia screening — there are no hidden extras. The coil device itself is charged separately unless you are able to obtain it via an NHS prescription from your GP.

In limited circumstances, your GP may be able to provide an NHS prescription for your coil device, which would reduce the device cost to nil. If you wish to explore this, please allow your GP practice at least 10 days to arrange it, as not all practices are able to accommodate this request.

Some discomfort during and after the procedure is normal, most women describe it as cramping similar to period pain. The procedure itself takes only a few minutes, and your doctor will talk you through every step. Over-the-counter pain relief before your appointment can help manage any discomfort.

This depends on the type of coil. The Mirena coil lasts up to 5 years, or up to 10 years if inserted after the age of 45. The Kyleena coil lasts up to 5 years. The Copper coil lasts between 5 and 10 years. Your doctor will confirm the right option and duration for you during your consultation.
